Porches and Gardens Tour

On June 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., eight homes in Nahant will showcase their porch or garden, in appreciation of all the everyday heroes who risk their lives and health in the service of others. The NGC is grateful for the healthcare workers, EMTs, firefighters, police, military personnel, teachers, grocery workers and all others who have helped us get through the pandemic. We hope this event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the heroes in our community and beyond.

Tickets are now on sale for this event @ $25.00. Please contact info@nahantgardenclub.org to purchase.

May Baskets

Please join us at the upcoming ‘Art, Nature, Nahant’ event on May 1st (rain date May 2nd) from 9 to 5 at East Point. The Nahant Garden Club will be selling May Baskets. Please visit us at our table. Bring art and nature into your your home with a lovely decorated basket by the Nahant Garden Club.

Holiday Centerpieces and Boxwood Trees

The NGC is participating in this year’s Open Studio Tour, an opportunity for local artists and crafters to sell their wares throughout the town. This event, held due to the cancellation of the Nahant Holiday Fair, will be on November 28, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The NGC will sell holiday centerpieces and boxwood trees at 73 Wharf Street. More information on the tour is available on the Nahant website. Hope to see you there!

Impact of Covid

Due to the anticipated second surge of COVID-19 during the fall season, the Board has voted to hold virtual zoom meetings starting in September. At this point, it is our hope to return to regular meetings in January. Therefore, we have voted to reduce the dues for the 2020-2021 season to $20 starting in January. Dues notices will go out in the fall.

We hope you understand why we reached this decision and look forward to seeing you in the future.

PLANTER SPONSOR

The Oceanview Nahant has generously offered to sponsor a planter. Matt Burris, General Manager, has donated $1,000 to cover the cost of the planter at $800 and $200 to cover the cost of plant material for a year. A big thank you to Matt and Oceanview Nahant.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Our Marie Ford Nahant Garden Club Scholarship recipient for 2020 is Benjamin Quigley. He has been accepted to the freshman class of the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources with a major in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology.

Ben is a lifetime Nahant resident, an avid soccer player, interested in photography and has been a regular volunteer at Bertram House in Swampscott. He spent his Saturday afternoons there in the dementia ward participating and running arts and crafts, playing piano, charades and bingo.
