The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul.

Our Mission

Proceeds from our Garden Club fundraisers are used in many ways to enrich and beautify our community. We offer an educational scholarship each year to an aspiring Nahant student. We maintain a lilac grove in the Nahant Cemetery where lilacs are planted in memory of loved ones. Each year the Nahant Garden Club offers our Arbor Day recipient a tree of her choice to be planted and which is identified with a brass plaque. The Club maintains the planters in the business area across from Short Beach and the traffic island in front of the Life Saving Station and 40 Steps. Memorial Day services are a very important part of our life in Nahant. Each year Garden Club members provide Memorial Day wreaths for the Veterans’ memorials in Greenlawn Cemetery, Veterans’ Park and Tudor Wharf. During the holiday season we also provide wreaths for the exterior of Nahant public buildings: DPW, Fire Station, Library, Police Department, Sr Center and the Town Hall. In 2014 we began a Junior Gardening program for students at the Johnson School.

Another important part of the Garden Club is Education though Demonstration, Presentations, Workshops, Field Trips Gardening and Floral Design.

The Club has monthly meetings starting in September and ends the year with an Annual Membership Luncheon Meeting in June. Some of the Workshops include Floral Arrangements, designing a holiday boxwood tree and wreath making. Each year there are field trips to local gardens, the Boston Flower Show, and the MFA Art in Bloom Show.
